Ecclesiastes: The Meaning of Life
The seldom-preached, but often mis-quoted book of Ecclesiastes describes the Teacher's search for the meaning of life, by his own unaided intellect and apart from divine revelation. His conclusion was that life "under the sun" is vanity and as futile as chasing the wind. Join us as we look into this wisdom-literature book and find out how the gospel is the answer to the Teacher's (and our) despair.

The REFRAIN
Anthems of the Incarnation
In music, the refrain is a verse or phrase that is repeated regularly. At Christmas, we find familiar refrains everywhere. We sing with strangers in the elevator. We hum tunes under our breath at the shopping mall. We sing at the top of our lungs in the car with our kids (whether we can sing or not) when those familiar melodies come through the speakers. We don’t even need the screens at church for the songs except when we sing anything other than the first verse. These refrains fill our hearts and minds with memories and anticipation. These are the refrains we will study this Advent season.
- God will rescue through a child - "What Child Is This"
- Jesus is God - "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
- God will save His people - "Good Christian Men Rejoice"
- God is sovereign - "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel"
- We have hope - "O Holy Night"
